How I Choose My Books Tag

I am feeling like I can manage my time a bit better again to start posting here again, so I will be reading Amelia Fang and the Rainbow Rangers and reviewing it but first, this book tag that I found over on Riddhi’s page!

Question 1: Find a book on your bookshelves with a blue cover. What made you want to pick up this book?
So most of my books are black or a dark purple or red or brown and this is my only blue book.

I love Harry Potter and when I found out about this book and Quidditch Through The Ages, I really wanted to read them and find out more about the world of Harry Potter.

Question 2: Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy, but did. Why did you read it in the first place?
None. I don’t read a book if I don’t expect to enjoy it. Unless it’s for school but those books I didn’t expect to enjoy and I didn’t enjoy them.

Question 3: Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick a book at random. How did you discover this book?

How I discovered this book was from the box-set and reading the first two. It was spoken about a lot on BookTube and that’s how I found out about the first book and then when looking it up I saw it was a whole trilogy.

Question 4: Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you. What did you think of it?

This book was recommended to me by my mother and you can read my thoughts on it here.

Obviously that’s not all I’m saying about it on this post. I think it’s an incredible book which an amazing and crazy story. It’s not really scary in a typical horror sense but it’s terrifying because of just how real it is and can be. I love it so much.

Question 5: Pick a book that you discovered through BookTube/Bookstagram/book blogs. Did it live up to the hype?

Absolutely not! I did not like this book, I did give it two stars on Goodreads, one star was for AIDAN the AI and the other star was for the infected. I loved these parts so much! They were so great, so fun and interesting to read, sadly they were mentioned so little, or at least not enough for me, they were more a side-story to the book. BookTube made me feel like they would be more present in the book and I was just bored when they weren’t the focus which felt like most of the time.

Also, the formatting which BookTubers were in love with was really hard for my Autistic self to focus on and actually be able to pick up the information it was telling me.

Question 6: Find a book on your shelves with a one-word title. What drew you to this book?

Mine, Divergent and Coraline are the only one word titled books I have and I already mentioned the other two in this blog and what drew me to them so I have to pick Coraline!

What drew me to this book was the illustration, the fact that it was a Neil Gaiman book and I wanted to try one of his books, the story when I read summaries and reviews, it just seemed like a type of book I would love and I did.

Question 7: Think of your all-time favorite books. When did you read these, and why did you pick them up in the first place?

My all-time favourite books, Harry Potter series, Lord of the Rings series, Mine and Smoke Gets in Your Eyes and Other Lessons from the Crematory.

I do not remember when the first time I read Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings was, it was a very long time ago. The first time I read Mine was in 2018 and the first time I read Smoke Gets in Your Eyes was last year!

Why did I pick them up in the first place, Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings were just awesome books and the films really made it more larger than life for my child-self so I continued reading Harry and started reading Lord of the Rings later. Mine was because my mother told me I’d love it (she was not wrong), Smoke Gets in Your Eyes I picked up because I love the author, the topic and I wanted to hear her side of it and her experiences.

Thank you so much for reading! Let me know what some of your answers are and also go check out Riddhi’s post about the struggle with rape in India and some of the cases and conclusion to them over here it’s very important and I think most should read this and find out what’s happening. 🍓
